Another Field Trip, A Lot More Fun!

Our Grade 4 students had an exciting and fun-filled learning adventure at Secret Garden Village! As part of their IB Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time, the students stepped outside the classroom to discover how people use technology, creativity, and innovation in the real world. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect what they have been learning in class with real-life experiences!

During the trip, the students explored the different buildings and spaces around Secret Garden Village. They got to observe the unique designs, learn about how the buildings are used, and discover how different ideas and technologies come together to create meaningful spaces. With so much to see and explore, the students were curious, asked questions, and made exciting discoveries along the way!

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing how technology is applied in everyday life. The students learned that technology is not just about computers, gadgets, or robots, but also about the tools, processes, and innovations people use to make things easier and more efficient. By observing real-life examples, they began to understand how human creativity and technology have changed the way we live and work over time.

Things got even more exciting when the students had the chance to learn how to make soap! They explored the process of soap-making and discovered how different ingredients and techniques are used to create a product we use every day. It was a hands-on experience that allowed them to learn by doing, observe how things work, and appreciate the science and technology behind everyday products. And of course, learning something new is always more fun when you get to try it yourself!

Overall, the field trip was a memorable experience filled with curiosity, exploration, and plenty of fun. The students were able to make meaningful connections to their Where We Are in Place and Time unit by seeing how technology, buildings, and everyday products reflect human ideas and innovation. They returned to school with new knowledge, exciting stories to share, and a deeper appreciation for how learning goes beyond the classroom. Who knew that a day of exploring and making soap could be such a great learning adventure?
